U.S. Anti-spam Web Pages Shut Down by Attacks

Three Web sites that provide spam blocking lists have shut down as a result of crippling Internet attacks in what experts said is an escalation in the war between spammers and opponents of unsolicited e-mails. phpSERA - phpSERA is a tool for Search Engine Ranking Analysis (SERA). The rankings are based on parsing output of search engines, using simple regular expressions. Given one or more search engines, one or more keyphrases and a single URL to look for, it connects to the search engine(s), parses the result pages, and displays a ranking report.

iBackup - iBackup simplifies the task of backing up the system configuration files (those under /etc) for Solaris, *BSD, and Linux systems. You can run it from any directory and it will, by default, save the (maybe compressed) tarball to /root. It is possible to encrypt the tarball, to upload the tarball to another host, and to run the backup automated in a cron job. You can also create a nice HTML summary of a system using the included sysconf.

ApacheTop - A curses-based top-like display for Apache information, including requests per second, bytes per second, most popular URLs, etc.

CRONTAB Tutorial

What is a Crontab?
A cron is a utility that allows tasks to automatically run in the background of the system at regular intervals by use of the cron daemon. Crontab (CRON TABle) is a file which contains the schedule of cron entries to be run and at what times they are to be run. This can be quite useful. For example, you may have a personal temporary directory that you wish to be cleaned out once a day to keep your quota from being exceeded. This is where cron scheduling comes in to play. Not all systems allow for a cron schedule to be setup. You need to see your system administrator to see if it is available on your system.

MicroBlogger - MicroBlogger, as the name implies, is a small, simple, flexible, reliable weblog engine written entirely in bash script. It has absolutely no dependencies on any other programs--No PHP, no SQL, no CGI, no Perl, nothing. Basically, if you have a Unix shell account, you can blog with the best of 'em. MicroBlogger is self-regulating, self-maintaining, and ready to fly straight out of the box. Just unpack the archive in your web directory, add a greeting, and whammo, you're all set!
